Add organization by ARRL manual

The initial organization follows the test bank organization. However, many folks study from the ARRL guide, and it would be helpful for them to be able to choose an organization by chapter of the ARRL guide instead.

we could also add page numbers so people can flip to it.

That’s a thought!

I wondered about generalization, but looking at this, it looks like the Gordon West and Ham Radio School books are really alternatives to a site like Open Ham Prep, so maybe there’s not a lot of point in adding arbitrarily many organization schemes, unless having two is easier if it’s just generalized.

this could all be part of the “links” json that is used for referencing external material

Would that let you do practice area by chapter of ARRL manual you are currently studying?

yes we could add this as an attribute on the question and then filter by that

I’m imagining a user saying in their profile that they are studying using the ARRL book, and then in Study by Topic they can study by ARRL chapter/section, without having to type in filters. Not sure if that makes sense?

I was saying how the quary would work not the UI. I have been thinking about “study methods” from the user. For example enabling them to see teh question but not the answer options to make sure they are creaing a deeper memory of the answer and not just matching keywords in the options

That seems like a great idea.

Are you thinking of just being able to choose to wait to expose the options after reading the question, or (say, for example) the user typing relevant words, and showing only answers that contain words they type, so that they have to remember enough of the answer to even see it?

I’m imagining a study mode in which one can study by a book, in parallel to “Study by Topic”

The ARRL books are the 800-lb gorilla here so I’d think it would be valuable to put “Study by ARRL” at the top level.

If there are other books, then a user could choose the book they are studying by as well as their target test session, and then whatever book they chose could be presented as a study mode alongside these other modes already implemented.
